Happy person designing sustainable solutions

Solar Parking

It is no secret that Friesland is the prettiest of Dutch provinces. That’s why Provincie Fryslân has the ambition to be fully energy neutral and self-sufficient as an organisation by 2025, generating enough electricity to cover the total energy use of the organisation itself. Are you ready to help make this happen?

SOLAR PARKING

It is no secret that Friesland is the prettiest of Dutch provinces. That’s why Provincie Fryslân has the ambition to be fully energy neutral and self-sufficient as an organisation by 2025. A goal Dorp fully supports and shares! The primary goal is to generate enough electricity to cover the total energy use of the organisation itself. This can be done by installing solar panels on buildings, owned property and by turning carpool parks into solar energy generators.

Provincie Fryslân

Provincie Fryslân is an ambitious organisation, ready to show that generating renewable energy is an important subject to them. That’s why they want to take the lead, by researching how the province’s owned property can be used to generate renewable energy. That makes the look and feel of this project even more important; it has to match the Frisian landscape, –transparent, robust and pure.

A Sunny Solution

Frisian (semi) governments own a large number of carpool spots and parking lots; the starting point of this assignment. Research has been done to identify which provincial carpool parks can be covered with solar panels. Some can also be equipped with charging stations. Preferably, attention is given to improving biodiversity and to using circular materials. Optionally, it is possible to collaborate with local energy co-operations or village councils concerning (social) civil participation.

The Conditions

  • Power generated can immediately be used to charge electric vehicles or to be fed back into the energy network
  • The design has to match the Frisian landscape: transparent, robust and pure
  • Clear and recognisable look and feel
  • Circular design, preferably using circular materials
