Agongo

Vrijdag & Zaterdag & Zondag
Part of Kologo Power

Agongo sings and plays the kologo, a two-stringed calabash lute which is the typical instrument of the Frafra people in the upper east of Ghana. He was born (1980) and raised in Bolgatanga, the regional capital. He plays the kologo since he was a young boy and became one of the first students of the legendary kologo player Sambo (who died in 2014). His talent was noticed when he performed at his father’s funeral, and people began inviting him to play at their events. Agongo has released several albums and video’s in Ghana. His album “I am suffering” was released in 2016 on the Amsterdam based  Chop Time Music label. This is Agongo’s first album with a full live band. These days Agongo is one of the most populair kologo players in Bolgatanga.
