London pop prodigy Nilüfer Yanya has accomplished a lot, quickly. The classically trained pianist, who is in her early twenties, released her Small Crimes EP in 2016, then followed it with the Plant Feed EP the next year. Yanya taught herself guitar in her early teens after being exposed to pop music for the first time; she’s used the instrument as a thread through her ever-shifting musical sensibilities, inserting synths and island rhythms to lighten her deep, grounded vocals. Her breezy songs fold the edges of indie rock against pop, creating a form as chill as it is precise.
